BF4 cpu 100% usage

So I got back into bf recently, and yesterday I was noticing some lag spikes which lined up with moments of the disk hitting 100% usage. The main drive in the laptop is a 512gb ssd, so this was a bit unusuall, but either way I moved the game over to an external 850 evo, and reinstalled some older "known stable" mobile drivers while I was at it.

This however introduced another problem, where the cpu usage was unusually high. I generally disable turbo boost to keep the fan noise low, and this was not a problem with bf before, but now the cpu is being pegged at 100% with and without turbo boost enabled. The fps isnt too bad, but fluctuates drastically, because of the cpu being pegged.

I did a quick ccleaner run, and malwarebytes came up with 0 threats...

Any tips to fix this?

It's about the CPU in your sig? The i7 3770?

Or is it about another CPU?

I have an Athlon ii x4 860k, which is a fairly low powered chip and it gets pushed to 100% in Bf4 as well, but on your i7... it should be fine.

It was fine on my desktop, but Im on my laptop for the summer. Its got an i7 4702 hq... I would guess around the performance of a i5 3570k at stock clocks.

The issues seems to be a map by map basis, as I just tried siege of Shanghai and it was not too bad. usage was still around 80% but not pegged anymore leading to lower fps.
