So I'm getting that fancy pantsy budget gaming notebook by Dell, the 7559.  Of course I haven't gotten it yet, because apparently Dell keeps zero laptops in stock, but it's coming.

Now, the laptop already has a 1TB hybrid drive, pretty nice.  I love hybrid drives, my PC has one in it.  The only downside is it's 5400RPM.  Granted, being a hybrid drive, it will have a speed boost over a generic stand alone HDD though.

But my question is this, should I invest in an M.2 SSD, or maybe just buy this 500GB SSD for $109?

Or should I instead, stick with the hybrid drive for now, and invest in another stick of RAM to get a total of 16GBs?  Thanks in advance.

My friend actually just bought one of these so if I'm not mistaken it has one m.2 slot and one 2.5in bay. If that's the case, buying a 2.5in SSD would get rid of the 1TB drive which is just a waste. I would get the m.2 drive, reinstall Windows onto that as your boot SSD, and use the 1TB as mass storage. 16GB of RAM is really too much imo

500GB isn't a bit much depending on usage.
My 250GB SSD is nearing full in my desktop, and that's with another drive for a majority of my games and programs.

I plan to swap my 250GB 850 evo out for a 500GB 850 evo, that way my 250GB can go into my laptop where it'll be more than enough, but that's because I don't have a lot on there. (Whereas someone who only has a laptop might easily fill up 1TB+)

I might end up doing this.  Thanks.

What would be a good brand for M.2 that isn't going to break the bank?

not really, its slowly becoming the standard nowadays

the days when "8gb of ram is enough" is almost gone

yea, but if he had to pick between 500gb m.2 SSD (which cost way more than the one he linked)

or 250gb SSD + 16gb ram, i think i'll pick the 250gb m.2 + 16gb ram

but yea, its up to him, but ive been using 240gb SSD and as a "fairy average" user, i've been happy with it

120gb is too little, 240gb is just nice lol (i just nuke my computer every couple months, so maybe thats why it never fills up :P )

all in all, storage is a very personal thing

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

The 500 GB SSD I linked was SATA, to be completely fair.

Anything from this page (already sorted price low to high)

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/internal-hard-drive/#t=0&sort=a10&page=1&S=120000,256000&f=122080&qq=1

Look for one with good reviews
