If you're getting 3 way SLI 980's, wait for NVIDIA's release of Pascal, the next generation of card, and get dual SLI of the 1080 or 1080Ti, but I think the 1080Ti releases much later so get dual SLI 1080's.

@Trav_Xthank you do you think the psu will handle 2 1080s or 3 980s?

1000 watts should be fine, but I'd consider splurging a little more for maybe like a 1100 or 1200 watt one with a good 80+ Platinumor a Titanium, at LEAST Gold, if you want room for some nice overclocks on all your stuff :)

Anything over two-way SLI is essentially very poor value for money due to scaling. Just get two GTX 980Tis or wait for Pascal.

What resolution will you game at?

What's your budget?

Do you have an existing PC? If yes, then what is its specs?

Lastly, what is your location?

Leave your build as it is currently, and put up that extra 780 for sale. That would be the best choice.

No .... if you he going video editing and streaming on the side the extra core and better expansion later such as browdwell E. If you go with 6700k he might have some trouble SLI 3 cards, so the extra pcei card allow him to add capture care or pcei ssd later and still able to do so even if has 2 sli card.

I would try something like this

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/wbPmdC

No point of going 3 way SLI.

I would even do like someone said, wait one more month and buy the next gen GPUs, probably from nvidia since AMD wont be doing super high end at this point, only later on.
