Are MXM GPU's Interchangable? Assuming power delivery is good enough would I be able to swap a 560m for a 580m? Are different generations also comaptible? Someone let me know, thanks.

If thats the case them you can't just swap them.

generally no. they have custom built pcbs and whatnot. although i know msi has a few laptops where they promised upgrade kits will be released at one point

MXM is just like PCI-E standard which both AMD and nVidia could implement when making mobile GPUs

 

depending on the version

 

MXM gen 3 supports up to 200 Watts TDP

 

nVidia put the MXM technology into good use with the GTX980 desktop GPU into a laptop

 

 

and MSI used the similar technology to cramp dual GTX980s into the trash can chassis

MXM GPU's are on a card kind of like PCIE.

Ok because I'm getting a Clevo X7200 from a kid at school for $65 next week (he doesn't know what he's selling lol). It has a desktop i7 980x and a GTX 560m and dual MXM slots and I was just wondering what I could do about the upgrading the GPU.
