My computer has been shutting down randomly while playing games recently and I cant seem to find the reason why. Games where this has happened are The Witcher 3, and now Overwatch. While playing Overwatch I turned the graphics down to see if it would help but it did not. The cpu was around 60-62 degrees c the most recent time it happened and I feel like it should be able to keep running at least untill it gets a little hotter than that.

The computer is not blue screening but is just losing power as stated by event viewer. Could it be the PSU or is it the CPU?

Only seems to happen in games with lots of detail.

Specs:

CPU: AMD FX 8320 3.5

GPU: Nvidia gtx 980ti msi armor 2x oc edition

PSU: Corsair cx 750M

MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance ram

Stock cpu heat sink and fan

OS: windows 10 64bit

PS sorry if this is not a good post pleas say if some thing is missing from what I put here. Thanks ^-^

Looking at your PSU model, that's the culprit. The 750W and 850W versions of the Corsair CX are only rated to operate at 30 degrees Celsius (that's 100 Fahrenheit) and will shut down as soon as they reach that ambient temperature. The long term solution is to switch that for something on tiers 1-3 on this ranking. Short term, you'll probably be able to operate with the side panel off, or with the entire computer outside your case so the PSU isn't receiving hot air from your other components.

Cheers!

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here
