CPU + MOBO COMBO?

So Im faced with a choice of what parts to build a computer for him.

Money isn't a factor (as long as its under $250CAD)

I already have a case, PSU (depending on what option you choose to advise me on)

 

Option 1:

Stick with Mobo (LGA 775)

buy CPU (prob Q6600), and RAM (Mobo only allows 4GB of RAM)

Give him my GTX 750TI (Upgrading to GTX 960)

 

Option 2:

New Mobo (prob LGA 1150 or 1151)

buy CPU (G3258 for LGA 1150, i3 - 6100 for LGA 1151)

buy 8GB of RAM (HyperX or something)

Give him my GTX 750TI (Upgrading to GTX 960)

 

could you guys recommended any good mobos, cpus, or changes to any of the options?

(current parts I have for his computer)

Biostar G31 M7 TE ver 6.7 LGA 775

Some random PSU, 420W, 20amps on 12V rail (minimum for GTX 750TI)

Some case

RAM & CPU, gonna switch out either way

Option 1 would be my choice, since the GPU is low-end. Any Core 2 processor is fine.
