Hi,

i want to connect different pcs for rendering (render-nodes).

I assume, i need a switch... ok. But is it necessary that the switch is connected to the internet if all i want that the pcs can "talk" to each other? If i have to connect it to the "internet" - is there a switch which can connect to WLAN?

No, you'd be creating a LAN (Local Area Network) and as all the computers would be physical connected together there is no need for the internet

Just one question, are the pc's in the same building?

Yes... the pc s are even in the same rack...

Then just connect them all to a switch and make sure they all have an IP address in the same subnet.
