I'm trying to connect an xbox 360 controller to my PC, i have some cheap wireless receiver i got off of amazon. Whenever I plug it in, it says that the drivers were not successfully installed. I've tried to manually download the driver off of the microsoft website, but when I do that it finishes installing and it gives me an error message saying that "This software version is already stalled on this system. To re-install this software, you must remove it first, and then run Setup again from the installation media. For information about removing a program, see Windows Help." even though, when I try to manually assign the drivers from the device properties of the unknown device, Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver is not listed as one of the available drivers.

hey man I'll help you out. right click on computer, choose manage (or get to device manager in some other way) choose device manager.

1. scroll to the unknown device

2. right click and choose update driver software

3. browse computer for driver software

4. let me choose from a list of device drivers on my computer

5. scroll to the bottom and choose xbox 360 peripherals

6. choose xbox 360 gaming receiver

7. Profit.

it will always be there if you do the steps correctly I can even get to the option of choosing xbox 360 receiver as my phone's driver if I wish but it'll fail to install though.

pm me if you want me to try and help over teamviewer or something similar you want to use maybe? you can always remove it afterward if you're afraid I'll do something.
