Hello everyone,

I'm looking to mess around with Arch Linux, and do not have a spare computer to use, and I had tried with my laptop previously, only to realize it wasted a lot of time during me doing work because i was screwing around in the terminal fixing issues i had made for fun. That being aside the point, I am looking to build pretty much the cheapest Mini ITX computer possible with 8 gigs of ram, that will run Arch with XFCE, and me attempting to make it look fancy with my limited Linux knowledge not unbearably slowly.

Thanks,

Rich

For PSUs brands, you wanna stick to either SeaSonic or XFX, or some higher-end units from EVGA or Corsair (it depends). I wouldn’t really know about that unit, but I don’t hear about Zalman being the most reputable brand so if I were you I’d play it safe and get the PSU in that parts list. If you wanna take the educated route though, you can go here.

As far as the motherboard/CPU/RAM goes, yeah I guess you could go with last gen’s products, however buying the G3258 is pointless ‘cause you can’t overclock it without a Z170 motherboard. The few dollars you save aren’t really worth it IMO, but it’s up to you.

yeah i was thinking that too with the psu, and I definitely won't be overclocking, so yours is probably a better option.

Purely depends on what you're looking for.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

I would probably get a ASRock Beebox N3000-4G128S if it is supported (intel mini computer standard named a "nuc"). A small computer based on an intel celeron. Once your done with your linuxrig you can always use it as a small htpc or whatever.

It is a cool mini computer for $250, even with usb3.0 type C and alot of other stuff! Read about a roundup of nuc's here.
