Hello Everyone,

I recently just finished my first ever PC build for a gaming setup and lets just say I found it to be a lot of fun. However, I still consider myself to be a noob when it comes to PC building even though I didn't struggle at all building my first PC. I read the mother board, pc case, cpu, and power supply instructions/manual and essentially the rest was like legos to me. The PC I am building will be built for one task, audio. No other things such as downloading videos (unless im scoring a video lol) or playing games will occur on this setup.

To get to the point: I am a musician who makes his living off of music. It is not a hobby for me. I currently have a 12 core mac pro. The two DAWs  (Digital Audio Workstations) I use (Ableton and Studio One) both essentially run better/have more functions on their PC version compared to mac version of the software. (if you are familiar, in pc you can have multiple projects open in ableton live, also you can use zero latency in studio one with a presonus interface) I am looking to build a monster PC to replace my mac pro. I know I will have to get a 4U rack mount case (which is perfect for the studio anyways) but should I get a server motherboard? example, Asus Z10PE-D16 SSI EEB Server Motherboard Again, it looks like I can get two 10 core cpus in there on the new low power cpus as well as get an insane amount of ram?

This is something I would invest in slowly and probably get 2 parts a month and hopefully have everything by the end of October with one final splurge. Is there anything that I should maybe wait on for a build like this? Is there anything I need to be aware of when it comes to a server motherboard versus a normal ATX? I really appreciate all the help I can get on this.

Thanks,

Depti
