I mean if the rumors are true and they're going to have a card that has performance near the 980ti for 300$, I definitely think they will. Especially if they're coming out with a new fury series too along side with the r9 400 series.

There is no information about them re-branding their 400 series desktop chips.

production yields are primarily a function of process maturity and chip size.  Polaris 10/11 are fairly small chips, which is great for yields.  But 14nm process is new, meaning there will be lots of defects on each wafer, which is bad for yields.

 

chips are made on a silicon wafer, and each wafer has defects.  A defect can often make that particular chip useless.  Sometimes a chip with a defect can still be used simply by disabling the defective part of the chip.  For example, the R9 390x and R9 380 might be the same chip, but the 380 had a defect on it so they disabled that portion of the chip (effectively reducing the number of available stream processors).

 

It appears AMD is playing it safe, launching small chips first, with a range of products (giving them a chance to use chips with defects in lower tier cards).  It's a very efficient strategy.  My guess is that yields will be very good - meaning wide scale availability and very competitive pricing.

 

Nvidia is going for the high end.  They are producing very large Pascal chips (GP100 is enormous!) and hoping yields will be acceptable.  Their top end chip, GP100, will cost over $10k, targeting the HPC market.  Their gaming GPUs, GTX 1070 and 1080 are expected to launch this summer, and are likely to be larger than Polaris 10 and 11.  I expect Nvidia's yields will be less than AMD's.  My guess is we won't see Nvidia until later in the summer, while AMD will be earlier.  It's all speculation at this point.

Well since Samsung never made GPUs before and GloFo is a know failure many times I do not have high hopes but still I have not much faith in TSMC I am sure I wont buy any first gen 14/16nm GPU myself... :P

Since Polaris 10 is a pretty small die i think they won't have much problem with yield. Koduri said himself that small die on 14m FinFet have much much much much better yield in recent PCPer interview video.
