So I'm finally able to get rid of the crappy ISP provided modem/router combo that I get charged $10 a month for.  I'm looking for some recommendations for something a bit better.  I need something with good range and I don't need something with crazy fast speeds as I only get 30Mbs from my ISP, and I don't do any in-network transferring other than to my printer occasionally.  I'm not looking to spend a whole lot, $200 max.  Should I Stick with the Modem/Router combo? or get a dedicated router?  Thanks in advance for all the help.

Who is your ISP? Depending on that answer will help better recommend a modem/router combo as certain ones will only support specific models.

Don't I need something with an ac signal so it works with newer devices? I probably should've mentioned that i'm pretty noobish when it comes to networking stuff.  Although, I guess that's pretty obvious

You don't need WiFi AC to support newer devices. AC is just faster and newer devices support it to get faster speeds but they still support the older N standard.

So as long as my WiFi is as fast or faster than what my isp gives me, I'm good?

I've always been leery of combo units. If you don't mind the modem and router being two separate units go with a SB6121 for the modem and something nice for the wireless router that supports 802.11N or higher.

In my experience, the signal range from combo units hasn't been very good.  Thanks for the advice
