I have made a list of what parts i want to use for my first gaming pc;

Case: Antec GX500 Black

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170-HD3

CPU: Intel core I5 6500 3.2 GHz 6mb

RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 2133MHz CL13 Vengeance LPX Black

HDD: WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm 64MB

Optical Drive: Samsung DVD RW 24X DL Black, Bulk

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 380 4GB G1

PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 650W

Internal WIFI adapter: ASUS PCE-AC68 AC1900

Thats the list and i think these parts seem fine, but i would love some help in finding other parts if i should swap some out for something cheaper but pretty much as good.

I also feel unsure about the PSU is it to big?

Are some of the parts known for being bad?

The PSU is fine, drop it to the 550W variant to save some cash. You could also do away with the Z170 since you can't overclock the CPU and just grab a H170 or a B150 mobo instead.

As for parts, I'd get a different cooler for the R9 380 since Gigabyte isn't all that great. If you can manage to get the Sapphire Nitro, that'd be a great choice. If not, then MSI, Powercolor and XFX are all good alternatives.

If you can spend a bit more for a SSD, it'll make a world of difference.

Yeah you may as well have a Core2duo machine (or older) if you're going to stick to a slow HDD.  Adding a SSD is probably the most important thing possible for that machine.

I don't agree with you, the modern desktop hdds are fine for normal usage, I get with mine boot times of around 45s, my laptop with ssd takes about 25s. So not really necessary. But it is a possibility
