So I have been having issues with my Nexus 6 (not P) for a few months now and its starting to drive me crazy. The issue i'm having is with the phones overall performance. Games like "Exploding kittens" and "Pokemon Go" (the 2 of the 3 games I play on my phone) The Audio lags and is choppy. The Camera can take up to 10 seconds to open HDR photos can take up to a minute to process, and when hitting the home button there is a rather long delay before the app closes. I'm not able to use android for work because it makes the phone unbearable. The battery only lasts for about 2h30min (on screen time) and there for is flat by lunch time (7am-1pm) before needing a charge, few months ago I was getting at least another hour of onscreen time and it would last till bed time.

Things that may be important

Phone is stock, running the latest version on Android (MMB29X), not rooted, stock bootloader

Phone is encrypted (cant disable unless I root)

Phone's boot loader is unlocked

Phone has been rooted since I got it (November 2014 I think) but recently unrooted it (will be willing to re-root if that fixes it)

Phone's memory has around 5-10gb free storage space. Im not running an excessive amount of apps (90 3rd party apps, however a lot of them are utility's so a rarely use them)

Phone is not getting hot

reboot speeds thing up, but within an hour and back to being slow.

I'm not running any facebook apps, deivce gets too slow

Is there anything that you can think of that will help speed it up? borderline buying a new phone, but the next nexus isn't due to release for another 6 months.

Download the Nexus Root Toolkit and manually flash the latest image. something could have went wrong with an OTA or something.

encryption isn't the issue. They solved that issue with 5.1. The Nexus Root Toolkit has an option to flash a stock image and disable forced encryption.

so I backed up my device using TWRP then erased the system, cache and userdata partitions, reflashed all .img files in the latest factory image and flashed the no-force encrypt.img i found on XDA. then restored my device using the backup google provided.

I will now go trough and reconfigure a few apps and settings.

Its now bed time where I am so I will see how performance is tomorrow.
