Configuring Network?

Installing Ubuntu on old PC. Do I need to have an Ethernet cord connected to configure the network? If I don't then what am I suppose to do to get it done?

You could use a wireless adapter that's relatively generic that the installer should magically support?

 

And yes, ethernet sounds like the best option.

Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a long Ethernet cord
