Hello forum,

I recently saw an ad for a second-hand mid-tower ATX/mATX Griffin aluminium case (http://shop.tsukumo.co.jp/goods/4560214530527/) that looked brand new and also included 3 case fans. I told myself that €40 is a bargain for it and decided to buy it and start a scrapyard build, my student budget build. A friend is willing to sell his 2GB R9 270 (that still has 1 year of warranty left) for €150, and I would have another friend carrying parts from the US when he goes there later this month, since they are way cheaper there. Mainly, he would be bringing this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cwnhsY . The PSU I can get here in Belgium, most likely a Cooler Master G650M. I plan on using the Samsung 850 EVO 120G SSD and Toshiba MQ01ABD050 500GB 5400rpm that I currently have on my laptop, leaving me with only a monitor to buy. I could get a 2nd hand 1400x900 one for an extra €60.

Breakdown of parts:

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2Ghz Quad-Core $194.99

Mobo: ASRock H170 Pro4 ATX LGA1151      $98.99
GPU: ASUS DirectCU II Radeon R9 270 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0    €150

RAM:  G Skill NT Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-2133MHz    $55.99

PSU: Cooler Master G650M   €85
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120G SSD   €----
HDD: Toshiba MQ01ABD050 500GB 5400rpm    €-----

Case: Griffin R12S/G with 3 case fans   (already bought)

Monitor: €60

A grand total of $350 + €295 = €605 ($685). Would it be worth?

A pretty good build, to the point it's not really 'scrapyard' even if used parts are in it xD

Well that's a lot cleaner than the old one with the hammock and cheetos. Are you still in the same shed?

I'm pretty sure I talked to you like 3 years ago (anonymously)
