Do I need transcoding

Hi I'm currently in the process of ripping all my Blu Rays to 1080 mp4s for my ds216play with 2tb drive my question is do I need transcoding through plex to two Ipad airs a iPad mini gen 2 (I think) a fire tv stick and a PS3
