So I was overclocking my friends rig (dont know all of the specs but the cpu was an AMD Athlon 64 at 2.2gHz) and after i finished the first small increase (to make it 2.3, I was taking it really slow) the system started booting, then suddenly shut downand wont turn back on. I'm assuming it's the CPU, but i'm not entierly sure. I checked the cables and everything, it all seemed fine, so heres wher I need help. Could iI bring the system back from the dead, or is it kinda just a giant paperweight.

as @cryosec said, you need to reset the BIOS via the CMOS battery. remove the battery, boot, shut down, replace battery, reboot.

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

k thanks, how would i go about shorting the cmos, and if its a hard process ill just remove the battery.

depends on what motherboard your friend has?

(if you remove the battery, hold down the power button to drain the system of power. if you don't know what board it is, battery option maybe best.)

The CMOS is a small header with only 2 pins, somewhere near the battery. All you need to do is unplug the pc, grab a screwdriver and touch both pins together, shorting their circuit. Plug the pc back in and boot. If you can't find the header, remove the battery. Easy
