Hi,

I'm curious to know what Firefox addons/extensions/plugins you have that you think are necessary.

As I would like to use some of whatever is mentioned myself, my idea of necessary in my case is:

  1. Security (avoiding malware, virus', etc)
  2. Privacy, and;
  3. Improving performance.

Not looking to change the appearance/aesthetics of the browser... nor will I need anyone suggesting Adblock.

Cheers!

I've used quite a number of addons for Firefox throughout my years, but these are a couple that I've stuck with so far.

Preliminary recommendations: Don't accept third party cookies. You'll have to login to some stuff every time (Disqus) from now on, but it's a good privacy feature. If that bothers you too much, consider white-listing some sites.

Must haves:

BetterPrivacy: Blocks super cookies. Super cookies are permanent cookies that last indefinitely, and are effective even in private mode.

RequestPolicy Continued: This is a new addon I'm using after trying many performance enhancing extensions. In a nutshell, it blocks requests to un-important domains, which means it blocks ads. But loading speeds take a massive boost. Fastest page loading times I've experienced solely with this.

LastPass: Now this is one you could refuse to use, and I can understand why. But it's a massive time-saver for me. It stores passwords, auto-fills forms and auto-logins to websites.

Very useful, but not must haves:

DownThemAll!: An excellent download manager that gives you very useful features like pausing and mass downloading links and elements.

Session Manager: Backup and restore sessions and (closed) tabs. Very useful.

Web of Trust: A website reputation service that you can check to see if the site you're visiting is safe, credible and reputable or not. Also gives an icon besides links to show their reputation.

Useful for use case:

FlashGot Mass Downloader: If you need to download videos from websites, then this is the one that worked best for me.

Greasemonkey: If you want to use specific scripts that will improve the experience of certain sites (eg. YouTubeCenter for YouTube.com), then this is a must have.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

Only yours, you don't shitpost on the same level that we can, mainly because this thread is finally dead and should be locked.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Enough for any browser to have ads blocker to avoid links for infected websites..  Plus if u are not idiot then u will avoid to visit unknown/infected websites... Thats it..

Remember that more extensions u add for your browser,, not matter which one u would use,, its browsing speed decrease..

And bottom line is, for security matters install decent antivirus/internet security  if want extra protection add antimalware. Don't bother with extensions for browser. After all most of them are developed by third party programers. And some of them can be bigger threat than other ones..

Getting old is wonderful, when you consider the alternative.

1. Common sense.

2. Common sense.

3. Disable Flash.

But as for extensions. One more vote to DownThemAll! LTT Notifier is another must. LastPass & XMarks combo has also served me well. Others I have are FEBE (backup utility) and Classic Theme Restorer (I don't like most of features in newer UIs).
