is there some sort of pcie or usb 3.0 adapter to thunderbolt? my mobo and case didn't come with one.

If you have an Asus Board that is above z87, you can always buy the Asus ThunderboltEX II thunderbolt card. Just need to make sure that your motherboard is compatible on Asus's website and that your board also has a TB_Header.

 

Otherwise, you need to buy a board that comes with thunderbolt.
