Just like @JaredM54 said, you cannot just move the files back after reinstalling steam. If you want to backup the games before doing whatever, you MUST use steam's backup/restore feature.

Unless you boot back on your old drive and backup skyrim the proper way, you'll have to redownload everything

ah all you had to do was tell steam where your new library was and it would have just found the old files

Did you also reinstall Steam itself? You can't move just the game files.

You are both wrong, you can move steam files wherever you want, you just have to make a new steam library folder, put the game in there (wherever you want) and point steam at it in settings, you can have as many steam library folders in as many places as you want and move them around wherever

When you "install/download" the game, Steam will see the files already exist and check them and then you can play

Strange then, I tried it a few month ago with GTA V and he wouldn't see the games at all. even though he was downloading to the exact same folder where the files were

you have to make the steam library into an empty folder first, then add the files in, you cant do it after

That's what I meant, that you can't move just the game files.

What? Thats the most unclear answer you can give. Because all files CAN be moved. They just need some fiddlingbefore they work properly.

You can have the game folders in a folder then add that folder to Steam.

I've seen some people posting here about issues with that. Might be just Steam bug.
