My antec liquid cooler started making a loud buzzing noise (probably the pump) and i need a new replacement. I was wondering if i could keep the existing mounting bracket I have on the back of my motherboard and use it for the new cooler so i can save my self the pain in the ass removing it and the motherboard along with it. My opinion is that its just a hole for screws to go into so a new cooler should be able to screw into it since the sizing should be the same for different coolers of the same cpu size. However im not sure tho. Also any tips to try and attempt to solve the buzzing noise from the pump would be appreciated as well.

thanks

each cooler uses different mounting mechanism

unless you stick to the same brand and lineup, you most probably have to remove every piece and replace them with the new ones

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Chances are there are notches on the heatsink that correspond with the mounting bracket so using a different one may not even fit.
