I have finally decided to organise all of my photos and videos. I currently have a 2TB external hard drive and it is dedicated to footage storage. Currently, I have a massive list of randomly named folders with random junk inside. I really need a file system for photos and videos so that they are organised and I can find anything when I want to.

Does anyone have a solid, working files ystem that I could use?

As the one above me, name them after date and location. If it is stock footage(pictures) have  a folder for that that then have sub folders for say gradients, cinematics, transitions and so on. For each project create a project folder that describes it well. One folder for raw footage and then one for the edited or compressed footage and so.

I also have a separate folder for all my edited raw files I have exported. Then also a folder for .psd files one for .aex ones and so on. Like one folder for each program you use with all the small random projects.

And when you say edit a picture in Ps or similar name the .psd file after the original file or something that tells you something about it. For example, "landscape_night_2016_04_24_edited.psd"
