Hey guys, so my five year old macbook pro that I have been running windows 7 on for a while is finally starting to show it's age and I need to find a new laptop soon before this one completely dies.  I am a graduate Aerospace Engineering student, and the main requirements currently are that it can run poorly written matlab scripts (hey I taught myself using google, so it might not be pretty, but it works xD), as well as possibly solidworks and CFD software such as Abaqus or Fluent, as well as handling some games (but not really FPS, I really like Kerbal but haven't been able to play it on my current system with all the mods recently) as I am not completely sure exactly what my Thesis will be in although I suspect it may involve some heavy computation of CFD and possibly FEA.  my budget is $1500 to ~$2000 USD although that isn't hard and fast at the upper limit.  I am also looking for help sourcing the computer as I just moved to Israel, my two options are shipping it to my mother in the US and having her forward it to me, or to have it shipped directly to me in Haifa Israel, although I do have a way of avoiding customs fees but not taxes (don't worry, it is completely legal, Israel has some nice benefits for new immigrants ).  The software I am planning to run is most dependent on single thread processing, and can be GPU accelerated for the most part, at lest through CUDA, I am looking for at least 16 GB of RAM, but want the possibility to up that to 32 GB in the future if necessary.
