AMD's Master Plan

Okjoek

As a person who roots for the red team at Advanced Micro Devices I like to follow the videos this guy makes and I can't help but notice his latest videos seem to discuss a bit about what Linus was talking about in the WAN show this week:

It makes sense what he's talking about that Nvidia is being cornered further and further into the high end segment of the graphics market and how AMD who is firmly planted in the console gaming market has more game developers working with their technology which makes sense that the games being ported to PC will more and more be optimized for AMD graphics cards. Ontop of this Linus basically proves him more correct by bringing up how Intel and Nvidia are leaning further and further away from PCs. Lastly the idea of AMD getting in on the Chinese market as Linus mentioned could be huge.

I've gotten a lot of disapproval for my preference of AMD, but my reasons are numerous.

- I like smaller business.

- I value price to performance ratio shopping over strict high end performance shopping because it's simply more sensible and fair for the majority of people. I understand Linus's job to handle all this expensive high end stuff so that we don't have to and I'll always love watching and being a part of his community, but his bias for Nvidia is a disagreement point.

- I've used a lot of AMD hardware in the past. My first console used AMD hardware, my first PC I paid for and used to get inside and learn what made these PC things tick, that was AMD too. My current computer was a gift 4 years ago so I wasn't going to say no, but when it's time to move on (hopefully soon) if I have the choice it will be AMD. I have a lot of time invested in their hardware so it's also a nostalgia sort of thing. I've been using AMD stuff since before I knew they were AMD products.

-I like more of my hardware parts that need to interact with each other to be made by the same producer.

I get that AMD hasn't done well, atleast on the CPU front for a little while now, but I see a situation that's been set up where they can really make up for it on all fronts, if not massive gains against intel, then at least in personal achievement. So that's just my opinion I thought I'd throw out there. Where do you guys see the industry headed?

I just hope there will be more competition on the CPU side of things, GPU Wise IMO AMD won the last 6 months of this generation of cards but CPU, god, like is Intel even innovating? Wh've had improvements of like 3% going to skylake, wtf. Bring something to the tables AMD pls.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

Okay I didn't know this. Doesn't mean I still can't use it to explain some of my feelings though.

Come on man you get my point. Exc^pt those small incréments of performance increase that we had from the few latest gen, what did we get? Better efficiency, and that's it. I want the competiton back to the level it was a decade ago, when team blue and red were rivals, not Goliath and david. then were going to see some risks being taken, which could revolutionize thing's again.
