Laptop for college

So I'm in the market for a new laptop.

I will be mainly using it for university (notes, programming) and some gaming (mainly DotA 2 and CS:GO).

I'm looking for a lightweight laptop or ultrabook if posible.

My budget is $1100 CAD.

I have my eyes on the Asus Zenbook UX32VD which I think looks sexy with a decent performance.

But I also am looking at the Y510p but the 6 lbs kind puts me off. 

What do you guys think?

 

Also would you suggest waiting until shopping sales like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Boxing day?
