what to upgrade?

my friend has a really old pc that he want to upgrade and this is his parts:

 

CPU: Intel core 2 Quad

Motherboard: Gigabyte technology x48-DQ6

8gb DDR2 ram

GTX 560ti

 

what should he upgrade?

I would upgrade the GPU first, since getting a new cpu would require new motherboard and ram. A suitable GPU upgrade would be a gtx 950 imo.

Also see if you have the option to overclock his CPU.

Rumor has it that we'll first see a gtx 980 and gtx 980ti replacement + the rumors about the fairly high TDP i dont think it would be suitable for your friend's machine.

A gtx 960 replacement we probably won't see until fall this year.

 

And i dont know if Polaris is gonna be a good option since AMD's drivers are not so forgiving on a weak CPU (might change).

hes going to upgrade the whole system so maybe if he finds a good deal on a MB and cpu he might buy it. but gpu first..
