Hi,

well I have got a new problem with my pc build. First I had this problem that i couldn't install windows because the mouse and keyboard would shut down when I got into the installation. Well this was fix by setting windows 7 installation to enable in bios. HAHA that was a bit embarrassing! - well now I have a new problem; I succeded the installation of windows, and was installing new drivers from the cd that followed with the motherboard. WELL, I got to the point where it was going to update BIOS, and it said that when it was going to reboot, mouse and keyboard would be locked. Now after it was rebooting the motherboard turned on the light that says CPU fail!! - so now I can't boot AND there is no longer a signal on the screen. How do I fix this?!?!?

I hope this is understandable, i'm from Denmark, so sorry for the bad english :)

Try reseating the CPU power cable.

Theory is when you know everything but nothing works. Practice is when everything works but you dont know why. In this computer, theory and practice are combined: Nothing works and i dont know why.

Atleast i can manage Some things, like my current OC personal best.

try reseating the power for the CPU, both the 24pin and 4 or whatever pin one, if that fails try re seating your CPU

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Highly stupid question (but in some cases new pc builders may forget): Did you mount a cooler on it, and does it have thermal paste?
(cant be too sure, you know)

I have done that. reseating both the cables and the CPU. I've even tried to pull one hardware at a time out of the system, to try getting other systemfails. Nothing that helps...

yeah, everything is build correct, I'll se if i can take a picture!

And assuming the pump works fine...

You might have gotten a faulty cpu. Try getting it exchanged.

If you can, try a different cpu in the socket.

How far into the "bios update" did it get? Because that might have bricked the motherboard.

All I could see was a black screen. You know; It rebooted as if you woud restart the computer, but there is only black screen. I guess you're right about that the motherboard is bricked!

I don't have another CPU unfortunately, but everything worked as it should untill the bios update, so I don't asume that the CPU destroyes all of a sudden like that? :)

I would contact MSI support. I'm not familiarly with recovery. There may a feature with that MSI board that allows to fix this, but I'm not sure.
