just checked getting 128 fps in BF3

That makes more sense though it was to be expected - BF3 doesn't have extreme physics like those found in later iterations such as BF4 and above

i still don't think it is a bottleneck. anyways ill probably end up getting the 4790k next week anyways it will only be about 530$ at my local microcenter which is what i can afford at this time

Don't go for an i7 - Xeon E3 1231v3 is essentially a i7 4770 without the iGPU but costs 100$ less. You can get a Xeon + H97 board for 300$ and save over 200$

hmm that would only be about 441$ at my microcenter. will need to rebuy windows 10 as i had upgraded from a windows 8.1 OEM copy

No need to rebuy for full price - get it from reddit software swap for 20$.

You'll be fine. Personally, I'd suggest 8.1 but you can get 10 if you want as well. Tho buying full price is not smart

Get it from reddit or G2A or some other grey market reseller for much cheaper. 90$ for MSX is overpriced. As for the CPU, how much are you paying for the board? Xeon itself is around 230$ max

Motherboard is overpriced. H97 boards are usually 60$ for a good one

lowest my microcenter has is 80$ and it doesnt support Sli and i really want to avoid online if i have to. oh and just tried BF4 was getting 95-120 fps in that also you can use non ecc ram with that cpu right? so i could use my corsair XMS3 12 gb set for it?

Yes, Most consumer CPUs don't need ECC RAM - it will work fine. Buying online would save you a lot of money tho but if you insist, 80$ is okay-ish. SLI is not really needed with a 980 - save that money for Pascal/Polaris

well decided to splurge a bit and got the i7 6700k so it will hopefully last longer and for me to jump to the newest platform
