Look on ebay.

I like to kill hardware. In 2016 alone I have killed 20 Xeon 5160, and 10+ Pentium 4.

Get a 970 or a titan X cooler on ebay, the titan x coolers are not scams.

I said no 980ti

Whoops, completely misread it nevertheless the Nvidia store still sell the reference 970: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/geforce-gtx-970/buy-gpu and you could probably find the reference 970 in your local best buy if you have one nearby.

As for 980: http://www.ncix.com/detail/pny-geforce-gtx-980-xlr8-06-102039.htm

Do you need the card? Or just the cooler?

I need both, but isn't the price too high for just the cooler?

Yes, I though that you were talking about the whole card. But that is a rip off for just the cooler, if it was the full card it would be a good deal though. I saw the coolers for 50$ before though. I would get a second hand 770, 780, or 970 reference. As the 60 class cards don't have the aluminium coolers. But the 770/780/970 all have them. You might be able to find a 690 if you look hard enough. (I liked the 690 cooler best)

Also if your experiment is to swap the ACX and the reference cooler around, It will work. And if you get a 980 reference you can also SLI it with your 970 ACX 2.0.

At the beginning, i was gonna buy the 980ti from Gigabyte (Xtreme gaming oc edition). Now that i want to mod a reference card, should i get the 980ti reference or still go for the 970 reference for modding? (the 980ti will be the card i'll use for gaming, the 970 is just for modding)

Well, There are 980ti evga hybrid coolers for 40$ on ebay; so you could mod those (If you fuck it up it is only a 40$ loss) and when you get a result you like you could put it on the card. If you did that, you wouldn't have to worry about ruining the ref cooler.
