OK, this is my second setup:

HERE

I'm not gonna take the Fury X. I put it there just for reference. I'm waiting for Polaris.

Is the 5930K a good choice? I want to make and play games.

Don't tell me I don't need that much RAM. I put it there for reference.

I'm not sure about the hard drives. I want m.2 and PCIe storage for windows and Linux respectively. Then I want two hybrids for data for both systems.

How many optical drives should I take and why? Which ones? Do I need blu-ray?

What's better for a power supply, titanium or platinum? Is my power supply choice wise?

What do I need a network adapter card for? Should I get it? If so, which one?

You will not be the extra lanes of the 5930K over that of the 5820K. Grab the 5820K instead.

Skip the SSHDs/Hybrids and just grab regular HDDs instead, perhaps even regular 2.5'' SSDs. There's a reason nobody recommends them.

One optical drive is more than enough considering that most things can be just downloaded without the use of disks. Do you need a Bluray drive? Answer is most likely no.

Efficiency does not matter - the difference between Platinum and Titanium is negligible. I'm unfamiliar with the Platinum Strider series so I'll just say that you should get something from the EVGA G2/P2 lineup.

Explain the idea of lanes to me. Are you talking about the PCIe lanes? If so I chose the 5930K because I might add a second card, perhaps a GeForce, in the future for dev purposes

I am. The 5820K has 28 PCIe lanes. You won't need a 5930K unless you're planning to do four way SLI.

OK. But the specs of the motherboard said if I use the 5820K the second lane will run at x8. I'm assuming that's slower than x16. It'd be nice if you could explain to me the difference between x16, x8, x4, x2 and x1 lanes and their speeds

I believe that there will be a noticeable change in speed once you go below x4. However, between x16 and x8, the difference is non-existent. NVIDIA cards will need a minimum of x8 so you're absolutely fine with a i7 5820K.

Can you provide me some benchmark tests for what you just said? I want to be sure

No offence but the benchmark is 2 years old...

And it still applies today regardless.

Perhaps Linus could convince you:
