Headset Question

So I recently found a deal on a headset but I just realized that after i purchased they are USB only. The description says that they plug into a sound card but i don't have one :\. I new to this whole thing so my question is, can you plug a USB connection into any free port or will it have to be into a sound card?

They should work.
