So to start this off, I've had my PC for almost a year and a half now, and put in a new cpu and gpu on Christmas just past. Last night I turned my PC off by holding the power button in and today it won't boot up. When I turn it on it shows me the Chillblast logo, the company I got the PC from, and then it goes to a black screen with a small flashing white horizontal line in the top left corner of my screen. I can access the bios but once I exit it sends me to the black screen. I've tried recovery mode but I think my hard drive may have failed. Any thoughts on the matter would be very useful and I must apologize if this is in the wrong discussion.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Windows was probably in the middle of something important. I hope you are aware that you only do that if it's critical to turn off your PC.

Leave that screen for 15 or 20 minutes. If it stays the same throughout that time, try to access the files on the HDD from another computer.

Why would you do a hard shut down?

Not recommended, you know?

Try the HDD on another computer like @HPWebcamAble said (@ is broken) or if anything that isn't important on the drive format it, make a bootable flash drive then carry on from there

I know I shouldn't have, but I was in a rush and it kept sending me to the home screen, I'll try them suggestions now.
