hi. i decided to upgrade my pc's GPU since it was having trouble (R7 240). the one i want to upgrade to is a GTX 750 TI MSI gaming. but i dont know if this will fit in my pc with the powersuply i have now. the pc i own at the moment is a prebuilt one but it doesnt have a warranty anymore so upgrading is not a problem. http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/435868/hp-pavilion-500-407nd/specificaties/ this is the best site i can find its specs at sadly. (its in dutch). i dont need any tips on upgrading anything to something else. i only need to know if the GTX 70 TI gaming graphics card from MSI will fit without the need of a new PSU.

unless we know your psu model and wattage, we cant give you a definitive answer

but the r7 240 have a TDP of 30W and the 750Ti have a TDP of ~75W (iirc)

so its ~40W extra and in most cases its fine

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

ooo... its a 180W psu... might be risking it a bit here tbh...

it says it uses an adapter and not a conventional ATX psu, is it true?

i dont know. if you are saying it uses a brick outside of the case. no. but since i dont know what atx is. i went and looked it up. from what i understand its some intel thing. and my pc is 100% amd at the moment. so it could be true.

nono, you're right lol

Adapter = external power brick :P

ATX PSU = most desktop's power supply, ATX is just a standard

anyway is it possible if you take a picture of the label on the psu? i think the hp website is wrong since it says adapter `-`

or im just understanding adapter wrong

i cant take a picture without messing with my phone for half an hour. and i realy want to buy the gpu today so i can upgrade tomorrow. but i can tell you the only thing wrong with the site is the external thing. the rest is all the same. 180 watts. 100 to 240 volts. and it is in fact internal.

as you can see here (approximate build, wont be that far off)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LvYVt6

the recommended wattage of psu is more than 214 `-`

the website adds some overhead but its never good to go below this figure

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4C9s6h

this is your original configuration (approximately)

it's already consuming near 180W lol

so its best if you upgrade your psu before you upgrade your gpu `-`

ah.you used the evga card. that one uses way more power. thats why i went with the msi gaming one. which only uses 65watt's at full load. that might be the problem with your aproximation. still. pretty funny how they claimed "full upgradability" when i bought this. they shouldve said "if you want to upgrade anything. you must upgrade everything"

edit: on the site i want to buy them from. the evga card has 300 watts and the one i want to buy 65. (this measurement is under full load)

yeap, you do that lol

they know their desktop best :P

if they say 180W can power the 750Ti, either its true or they want you to buy a new computer after you killed your current psu lol

well..... if i ask for a trial and they say its fine. and it kills my psu. they will replace it. but it doesnt logic to say 65watts doesnt work while 122 watt does.

make sure you have a black and white of this, not just through a phone call or something

either e-mail or a letter with their company name
