I'd use codecadamy. However, JavaScript for dummies would be good.

Good basic resource: http://www.w3schools.com/js/

However, now days jQuery is a more desirable language than javascript.

What's wrong with w3schools? I've used it multiple times in the past and it's been very useful.

If you're interested in a good book I would say one of the better books (best imo) on JavaScript is

Secrets of the JavaScript Ninja

It's a bit on the advanced side of things but it's a really good book if you really want to understand how JavaScript works. If you're just interested in using jquery to move some elements around or want a quick way to add some interesting animations to a website then this is not really a good book at all. It's really about learning JavaScript and not about using a single library such as jquery, backbone, or underscore.

hmm, thanks all.
I had one more question.
I mostly followed the courses on codecademy, and i spent a tiny bit of my time on notepad++, and that's where i had problems.
Codecademy had a little display. On notepad++ i need to press save, then ctrl+alt+shift+R to launch a new tab i chrome that runs my code. This is really annoying.
Can i auto refresh on notepad++ or something? Or are there other programms that are better for this.
Thanks.
