HWmonitor pro CPU clock error?

So this HWmonitor, needless to say, is a very famous temperature monitoring program- and its freeware version now has CPU,GPU clock monitoring features as well. Very neat.

But here's the problem: The max recorded CPU clock jumps to an unimaginable number, such as 22000+MHz or something. No, I don't have a supercomputer, but rather an intel core i5 480M cpu that has 2.67GHz as the normal clock speed, and usually stays boosted up to 2.93GHz. I first thought this was some minor error in clock perception, as I only saw about 3000 something MHz at first as max. But now? Nuh-uh. Error, still, but a very big one.

What's more interesting, the GPU clock does not show this problem.

I have tried reinstalling - no avail. Absolutely no problem with my hardware or OS.

 What I want to ask is, has anyone else experienced this as well?

They thought of this as a temporary glitch, but this is constant. And now, I would like some answers.

Have you tried using different software to see if this problem still occurs? Try using CPU-Z to check clock speeds.

Agree.  Give AIDA64 a spin.  It has a great onscreen display that you can setup to run on your desktop with a transparent background.  Not to mention that the stability testing and benchmarking portions are pretty top notch.

But have you had this experience as well? I'm curious about if this phenomonon occurs only to me or not. And yes, CPU-Z is telling me the correct clock speed.

No I never had this experience. I suggest avoiding using HWMonitor because it's unreliable when it comes to your pc.

Ok, thanks for popping a reply. I'll give something else a look, like AIDA64 as suggested above. Shame, I liked HWmonitor... Also it must be the OEM chipset and mobo of my LG laptop that's causing the glitch.

AIDA64 isn't free, that's why I suggested CPU-Z. Good luck!
