Looking to buy some DDR3L SODIMM RAM for my laptop, and modules that are "for MAC" (ie: Apple Macintosh) are available for a slightly lower price than non-"Mac" RAM.

Is there really any difference, or anything that would preclude such RAM from being used in a "PC" (ie: a Dell DDR3L-requiring Haswell laptop)?  What is the "real" difference between "Mac" and "PC" RAM from a reputable vendor (looking at Micron/Crucial) other than marketing and testing it with a Mac?

It would be easier (for me at least) to compare the memories if I had examples and give a comprehensive answer

For example.  Same price on those.  One says "For Mac", the other doesn't.  Cas Latency is the same, "11".

Spec-wise they're identical. Only difference I can see from the manufacturer websites is that the CT8G3S160BM has an extra DDR3J-1600 rating, which doesn't really make sense since that's no standard I've ever heard of.

Somebody screwed up. If it is "Mac ram" it is supposed to have its price inflated. Anything that has "Mac" or "i" on it is supposed to be "better" because it costs more.

they cost the same....
