Hi

I am atm on adsl with the french isp Free ( that's the name)

i will get FTTH fiber with a minimum of  500M down / 200M up next week with the ISP Orange.

My issue is Orange is know for having a very bad isp "box" ( modem)

To explain  atm i am using the freebox revolution

Wich is doing :

Bluray reader

nas 250Gb (extendable)

torrent (on it's own i mean)

VPN

Full network control

full phone administration

parental control and tons of other things related to apple users so i don't care about.

And next to that orange isp modem , the livebox jet  is doing 80Gb hdd , and.. well thats all...nothing interesting.

My question is as simple as that , do any brand sell a modem with same options as my freebox revolution ?

(except maybe bluray reader , i got a ps3 that is laying around somewhere wich can do that...)

I wish i could oc my body, during winter overheating would be great.

looking into it the box youre talking about is a iptv box witch you could most likley could be changed

usally with fiber when its installed it terminated into a box called an ont witch is bolted to the wall and cannot be changed.

ont's usally leased to you and are not yours to mess around with as it belongs to the phone company

on the other hand they out put a Ethernet port on the bottom of the ont which you connect to the wan port of your router of your choice (anything off the shelf)

there may be some more port forwarding and configuring but should be easy to do

Hello thanks for your answer.

The box i am talking about is this

Freebox revolution :

And this for the Livebox jet:

livebox-decodeur-play.jpg

It's the isp hardware furnished , basicly a modem router +  TV decoder and recorder.

The freebox revolution is just an awesome piece of hardware.

Basicly a linux based htpc with a nice os.

But the livebox jet really do sucks and have a bad réputation.

Since i am not using the TV i wanna found a modem router as good as the freebox revolution.

About the wiring , it's FTTH ,  with orange isp , the fiber arrives home at a fiber  wallplug.

Out of that plug isn't ethernet but still fiber  until you reach the modem router.

in clear , i am looking for a fiber modem router with the same ( or close) options to the freebox.

For the TV and blueray thing, i can do with a ps3 and my pc.

I wish i could oc my body, during winter overheating would be great.
