SSF Build input

So I'm going from my x99 rig down to a z170 and have a build already planned out but I would still like everyone's input on it.
Rig is for gaming, photo/video editing, and general computer stuff
I already have storage for it thus why I have none in the list

I would go for the 980ti from Gigabyte (Xtreme gaming). There is a watercooled version if you want

Why don't you just get the mITX Asrock X99 board?

Because it uses a 2011-v3 server socket which isn't the normal x99 socket

I'm an EVGA fan boy and I like the looks of the hybrid a lot more. I would get the g1 gaming but it wouldn't fit in the case

The most you really need for RAM, is 2133 or 2400. LTT tested it, and you actually see a decrease in performance after those. So you can save yourself around 100$ on the RAM if you go to 2400 or 2133. Also, I went with a EVGA +Gold PSU for like 80$ USD. You can save another 40$ right there.

.... No it doesn't. It just uses narrow ILM cooler mounting mechanism (the socket is the same) and as Linus has shown most 120mm watercoolers fit with that.

I got the cheapest dominator platinum and I want a sfx psu so I can have more room in the case

so I could still fit a standard 2011-v3 mount on it?

why do you need more room in the case? I think the difference might be like 3 inches.

Well, you'd have to use a 120mm AiO, but that shouldn't really be a problem. If it is, it comes with a cooler.

The difference would be me having to get a shorter gpu(might be wrong on that though) and less room to manage cables

If you did go with that motherboard and cooler that means you could save some money as you wouldn't need to get the 6700k :P

True true very true
