You have to plug in your monitor in your graphics card, not your motherboard.

ew vga, but I'm assuming the board only has onboard video wihout a card and when a card is detected or (hopefully this isnt a thing) a pci slot is taken it essentially cuts off the unneeded video ports. Try your bios if they have an option, or just stick with hdmi, dvi, or mdp to whatever.
