Computer not recognizing networking drive?!?!?

LukeS

So my recent computer problems have shown me that I know nothing of how a computer works. Or at least not as much as I thought I did. In any case, my Dell laptop will only connect to the internet via an eathernet connector. It does not recognize my wireless connector. Does anyone know how to run a system diagnostics or whatever to see what the problem is? Thanks.

p.s. if you followed my other posts, here's an update: I got the SSD running Windows 8. I plan on upgrading to 10 asap, but I have to first install my basic programs (waterfox, Norton security, etc) and make sure all my drivers and such are installed (Wireless internet, all USB ports are working, etc). Thanks!

If you plug it in and windows doesn't recognize it then try a different USB port.

Hope this helps :P

Go to.

Control panel > Network and sharing center > change adapter settings

This should let you see all the adapters you have connected ensure the WiFi card is enabled .

There should be a drop down menu displayed on right clicking the adapter this gives yo an enable option as well as a connect/dissconnect option

on connesting there will be a little tick box for AUTOMATICALY CONNECT ensure this is ticked.

Hope this is any good for you and good luck.

This is going to sound super retarded... BUT I decided that I was done with trying to fix the drivers and such... So I updated to msX (windows 10), and for some odd reason (idk why) it automatically fixed all my drivers including my internet. Sooooooo Yeah. Now I just got the long process of installing all my apps and programs. And hoping that I put all my school work on OneDrive (as my old hard drive is just a paper weight at this point). And trying to get my bookmarks back.

It was the actual driver, not a thumb drive :P
