hello all,

I'm posting here today because my skyrim game has significant graphical errors that lead to crashing, before I go farther my specs are below:

AMD FX 6300 @ 4.3 GHz

two powercolor R9 280x's in CROSSFIRE

16gb ram

1 Tb hdd

850 watt psu

latest amd drivers (yes I'm sure)

now to elaborate on the glitches, they are green triangles that morph through walls and huge texture walls that look like huge translucent veils.

Every guide and suggestion online said either two things: my gpu is faulty or overheating (it is most definitely not), or my mods are conflicting with each other.

I do not have any mods installed and have done fresh installs of my game only to reach the same conclusion.

I have also disabled crossfire, lowered my graphics to minimum and still have not found a solution.

If anybody could shed some light on this I'd truly appreciate it.

that's an excellent point, I cannot believe I didn't think about that. However, I do play quite a few other games like fallout 4 war thunder etc and have had no issues with oc instability. I will try booting at a lower frequency and get back to you if that worked out.

Ok I downloaded and installed that mod you suggested but still nada, Again though i lowered clock speeds and still experiencing issues. I also found a fellow with the same cpu at 4.4 Ghz and he seemed to be running the game perfectly. I know every overclock can be different but it does give me some hopes it's not my OC.

how do you know that your gpu isnt freaking out? it might not be overheating, but something else could be wrong. have you taken benchmarks with it before?

Ya I have done benchmarks like unigine valley and such with no issues.

have you done them since these issues started? if not, run them again and see if you have a reduced score or if you crash out. that can help pinpoint a problem.

I suppose you're right, but have you tested your overclock for stability? He might have run his at a higher voltage to ensure a more stable overclock.

However, now that I think of it, those sound more like GPU issues. Skyrim is  DirectX 9 game, and I don't know how the latest NVidia drivers are behaving with it. I do know that my GTX 960 did have weird flashing orbs of light with some drivers, and not with others.

benchmark went well and no serious drop in score was encountered, temps were adequate as well. I'm starting to think this is a driver issue with amd but I'm not sure. I've even done fresh reinstall of graphics drivers to no avail.

maybe. perhaps try an older driver that you had no problems with and see how that goes.

Ya I really don't see any other solution, may just have to wait for an update or try a different voltage on the oc like you said.

If you haven't tested your overclock for stability with benchmarking programs, do that right away before changing anything. Validation should be your first priority, and most people do that immediately after overclocking.

However, it seems like you don't have any issues with other games, so it's very unlikely. This has to be a software or a GPU/GPU driver issue.

What version of the game do you have installed? I remember the Steam version receiving a few patches which might or might not have been included in official Bethesda updates.

I don't know what version of the game that's installed, I am positive the game is up to date but enlighten me on how to check the version.

Start the game, hit esc to bring up the Save/Load screen and it will be a watermark down in the lower left corner of that panel.
