what are some very likely possibilities for a random computer reboot? And also, can the OS cause this?

To reiterate what I mentioned in your previous long thread, judging from all of the information you provided, it seems likely it's your electricity supply, and you should consider getting a UPS to power your PC.

Disgregarding that, the most likely causes are:

1.) Bad power supply

2.) Bad/loose power cable(s)

3.) Bad/incorrectly seated RAM

The OS would almost always bluescreen before restarting. The OS can't just force an immediate hard reset.

Almost as cool as my temps

A faulty PSU or loose wire somewhere would be my first guess
