Pump dead?

Yesterday I added 2 SP120 Quiet edition fans to the H100i GTX.

I booted the PC only with the power cord to check if everything still was working and then I heard a rattling noise from my pump. I thought oh well maybe some air bubbles, it will go away.

I went out to a family party and today I hooked everything up to the PC.

First thing I went to check is the CPU temp and what I saw blew me away. It used to be at about 25-30°C idle and now it was 58°C rising up to 99°C (4790K NOT overclocked)

I immediately turned off my PC to see if the water block was properly connected to the CPU and it sorta was, so I removed the thermal paste, added new thermal paste, made sure all screws are screwed in properly and booted up the pc --> Same problem.

Then I tried to jump wire my watercooler to my PSU using a molex to 3 pin adapter and I can't feel any vibration in the pump BUT the fans are spinning and the color lights up

Is my Watercooler dead? HELP.

If you don't feel the pump vibrating, it is probably dead.

Well I've never really felt the pump before, with what is the normal vibration compared?

I've booted it up again to see if the pump was showing in Corsair Link.

Here's a screenshot 297374ffc7.jpg

I have no idea what that Mobo sensor #5 is but the pump has a variable rpm is this normal?

and all I hear from the pump is a very load buzzing sound

24 percent load and 87 degrees? Something is wrong for sure. Touch the tubing and see if you feel any vibration

Get rid of that AIO water cooler junk and put a proper air cooler. It will never fail you.

I can feel a light vibration but that might be from the sound that the pump is making. Here's the link to the youtube vid, made by my phone so sorry for the bad quality or hand vibration. the first sound you hear is from the "Quiet profile" where the pump is at 2600 ish rpm. the second one is from the performance profile @ 5000 rpm. (Not sure if those values are even normal)

Yeah, I'm thinking of returning, had a CM Seidon 120 V2 where the thread for the screws was completely gone, returned it, oh no CM does not give warranty on this, this is user damage.

Bought the H100i GTX, fans are loud, replaced them and now this, pffff

Well a fan isn't that bad compared to a failing pump

You will notice it at some point, and even if that happens, you are still passively cooling it, so you can't damage your CPU.

Returning it might be the best solution. I suggest you buy something from noctua, if you don't mind the esthetics. The NH-U14S is a perfect match for that 4790k (I have that combo btw). Or an NH-D15S if you plan on upgrading to 2011 in the future. They both shit on almost any AIO cooler out there, both in terms of noise and performance.

Most likely. Is the radiator warm when you touch it?

PC is off now cause I don't want to dmg my cpu by running so hot.

I'll let it run for a few minutes and will check if the rad is warm

@Astralify, I've tested it, and the rad feels cold, all fans in the case are disabled.

Yeah that's a dead pump for sure.

I'd say return it, pumps should last quite some time.
