Hi, so I built a pc, and I got all of the parts from the $500 computer from the 2015 Linus winter PC buyers guide (Link at bottom).  I put them all together, and started it up, the cpu fan starts up, the GPU fans start up, the hard drive starts up, but there is no startup beep, and there is nothing on the monitor.

Pls help or ima cri

make sure all the cables are plugged in right and make sure the cable going to your monitor is plugged in fully

Did you plug the gpu into the psu power? (two cables might be necessary  ex: 8 pin and 6 pin) Is the monitor cable attached to the gpu? You put the gpu in the right slot right? (I'm not sure if it's possible to mess that one up anyway :))

Do you get video if you connect the monitor cable to the mobo instead?

I have tried running the computer without the gpu, fans or storage drive, and plugged the monitor into the mob, it still didn't work, I think it's either a monitor or RAM problem, but I'm a complete pleb so idk if thats right.

Btw, unless your motherboard is connected to a speaker, there won't be a startup beep.

Is your RAM faulty?

By "motherboard connected to speaker", do you mean the little audio case pin thing that you put into the motherboard along with the usb pin plug?

Okay, so the problem was in the monitor, but i still have another issue...  When I turn my computer on, it says to connect the PCIe cable(s) to the graphics card,  the psu only had 1 6 pin plug, and the gpu is an 8 pin.  It came with an adaptor where you plug 2 6pin connections and the combine into an 8-pin, but I only have 1 6 pin.  I tried putting just my one 6pin into the adaptor and plugging the 8pin part into my gpu, and I also tried just plugging my 6-pin straight into the gpu and leaving 2 slots empty.  Both times it displayed the same message as before.
