Stuttering and Screen Tearing in games

AxwellMix

Lately I've been having troubles with my laptop in games where I get huge frame drops, stuttering and screen tearing. It's only been like this the past few days and I've not had problems like this before even with prolonged gaming use of the laptop. I don't have any problems with any other applications.

This happens in all games including when I amend the settings of the games to lower graphic settings I still get the same low FPS, stuttering and screen tearing, i.e, League of Legends I'm getting around 17-34 FPS at all graphic settings even though in the past I've had no troubles running at maximum settings above 60 FPS.

I'm using the laptops high performance power settings with CPU performance at 100% and I've tried plugging it into an external screen and the same problems occur. I have also rollbacked my graphic drivers to the factory driver as well installed the latest driver from the NVIDIA website to test if that may be the problem and neither of those helped.

Thanks.

(I only purchased this laptop 4 months ago)

Install 361.75.

The latest driver is bad, especially on laptops

Also, clean the laptop. N550JK has a thermal limit on the CPU and GPU at one point - it could be overheating due to dust

Thanks, it's working fine now.

I'll give my laptop a clean still though.

Avoid updating for now - some people have had much bigger issues with 364 drivers
