It depends. Normally it is easier to aim accuratly using mouse and keybord, and controllers is more komfortable to use. If you are sitting in a couch, or away from your pc it might better to use a controller. But it all comes down to preference.

How do you remember which keys is where? My hands are small and I struggle do reach the keys

It'll take a bit of practice to get used to, having a keyboard with highlighted gaming keys can also help you keep track of where your fingers are.

like in Dota2 I have to keep looking down before hitting the keys because sometimes my fingers are on the wrong keys.
