How does it not work?

Can people not connect to your server even though the server is on?

could the issue be with the firewall on the device you're using to host the server? You're going to have to say more than "it won't work" though

I'm trying to host a garrys mod server for me and my friend and i can connect to the server through my static ip but he cannot connect to the server with my public ip ? it just says for him server not responding on steam But i can connect. i've hosted a server before but my internet provider updated my gateway and i dont understand it now i'm definitely not port forwarding correctly

In the garrys mod console, type sv_lan 0 and see if your friend can connect.
