Hey guys! I received a lot of help from you guys when choosing which headphones to buy and ended up trying both the the ad700x and hd668b from superlux. I like them both a bunch, however each of them have their drawbacks and positives. In case anyone else is in my situation where I want to get a good gaming headphone but not too pricey you have come to the right place. Build quality of both headphones are mediocre. I hate the way the ad700x band is crooked and how the pads are not put on very well. Neither of these really contribute to any issues, it is just more of an aesthetic OCD thing for me. In my opinion the hd668b has better build quality minus the pads. The #1 setback of the 668 is the comfort. They will not fit a person with a bigger head. The two wings end up coming through the two little wires making it look weird and also uncomfortable for anyone with a taller head than me. However for me the headband was perfectly fine and padded very well. They aren't as good as the ad series take on the wings but it is definitely better than something with a traditional headband. The ear cups swivel on an axis so they fit your head right and the wings are adjustable by grabbing the big black plastic box and pullng the wings by holding on the the black rectangles with the dots near the outside of the wing. (Great description I know but I did my best)  :). The wings will become closer together by doing this. The up and down movement is covered by the bendiness of the wire they used to hold the wings in place. Pretty much everything on the 668 is plastic just like the 700x with some exceptions. My major issue with the 668b and the ultimate dealbreaker for me was the earpads. The comfort on them with stock pads is nowhere near the ad700x with their floaty feel and I was not on any particular budget so I just returned the 668 and kept my trusty ad700x they are the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn in my life!!! Comfort is huge when gaming and doing anything for me so this was a big issue. Advice for anyone buying these get some velour pads like these http://www.adorama.com/HMVELOURPADS.html?hotlink=t&svfor=5m&gclid=CjwKEAjw_oK4BRDym-SDq-aczicSJAC7UVRt2KhhW-kc3T_CjRTd9uZGv0Jgq-Jh6m_va4Wy8RAk8BoCjCnw_wcB and from what I have heard they will make a big difference. My problem with the stocks is that they are too thin and my ears touched the driver walls. This made my ears very hot and add in the fact that they are a very cheap pleather that didn't help the cushioning at all. Velour pads will also make the headphones sound like a fully open headphone rather than semi open because more sound can leak out and enter the velour pads and sound no longer bounces around inside the cups. I have heard soundstage also increases but someone who has tried velours on the 668s would have to confirm this as I haven't tried them myself. Now that comfort is out of the way, sound is up next. I prefer the sound of the 700x as there seems to be more clarity in vocals and everything sounds more crisp. Sounds were also more separated in the 700x. When I was walking around in bf4 with the hd668 I could not hear footsteps while gunshots were going off and while I was running. However this was not a problem with the ad700x. Positional audio is great in both though. However I do feel as if it is better in the ad700x. Front and back audio were worst in the hd668. Both sound signatures are practically identical however and you needn't worry about the signature. Finally the cable on the 668 is way better! And by a lot. The cable on the 700x stays coiled from when it sat in the box even though it is nice and thick and feels good quality. I like the superlux approach way better because I can choose between a shorter cable or a longer cable. the short cable is great for portable use and console gaming. The cable also is a headphone extension cord and the plug is a nice male jack coming out from the ear cup. This prevents breaking the cord if you yank the cable by accident. It will just nicely break away. The cable being a male to female 3.5mm, you can buy any cable you want off of amazon such as braided or coiled. That is one of my favorite things about the headphones. I hate dealing with the extremely long ad700x cable. I wish it was detachable. I would certainly be happy with the superlux if I couldn't afford the ad700x and most likely would not even upgrade to ad700s if I owned the 668. My next step up in fact would most likely be the q701 but that is a story for another time. these headphones are practically identical and if you can either deal with the comfort on the 668bs or fix it with new pads and or some other mod, you are in for a real treat and won't be disappointed when you spend your 30-40 bucks for these headphones. It is amazing how they can compare to some other very expensive headphones, and are a great budget competitor to the ad700x. Hope you guys enjoyed my review! Thanks so much for all of your help! See you next time!
