So, I've been switching some SD cards in and out, writing boot images to them. Well, The drive still appears. After I write the image it turns to ext4 format most the time and after I remove it, the drive letter shows up as occupied but inaccessible or disconnected. I can't eject or anything, its become annoying since it has taken over 3 letter. How do I get rid of these phantom drives?

Go into Disk Management and unmount the "Phantom Drives."

Try these.

  1. "Tools" menu
  2. "Folder options" item
  3. "View" tab
  4. Enable the "Hide empty drives in the Computer folder" checkbox
  5. "OK" button

Yeah... Linux FS doesn't have this kinds of problem. :D

I'm not bothered by the visual letters, it an issue because it keeps using up drives and technically data(though very small amounts) and I plan on using more SDs so eventually id get into double letters and thats just messy
